All About War Gaming

My brother and I enjoy  different types of war games. One of our favorites is paper soldier war gaming . Paper soldier war gaming? What is that? Well, it is pretty self-explanatory. You can print paper soldiers at the Junior General website, included in this post. Junior General has war game rules , and all sorts of soldiers from Roman to modern times. Here are some picture of our paper soldiers.
Scottish Covenanters

Royalist Cavalry

German Motorcycle Troopers
Paper soldiers are very fun to cut out and put together. Be sure to use cardstock when printing paper soldiers. It makes then stand up better.

One thing we like about these soldiers is that they are easier to store than plastic soldiers, and we can get more variety.

War games can be of any size from simple to complex and from any era of time. To play a game the following supplies are needed: ruler or yardstick to measure length of advancement and range of fire, dice to decide if the shooting, and an open floor or table.

Centurions

Of late, I've been making different weapons, helmets, and shields out of duct tape and wood. In this picture I am in my Roman outfit. The shield is very heavy since it is made from thick ply board. It's armbands are made from leather. The sword is made of scrap boards and duct tape. I made the helmet out of duct tape too. Prepared for Battle!

Hanging out with Tycho

As  I said before I am interested in  astronomy and all things space related. Since I live in the northern hemisphere the night sky I see  is different from the southern hemisphere. My favorite objects to view are the moon and the big dipper constellation . Also interesting to view are the north star and the edge of the Milky way Galaxy.

My telescope is a 50x magnification sky viewer  that I got as a “start of summer gift” . This fall I plan to get an Astroscan telescope so that I can view the planets of Mars, Venus ,and Saturn.  Tomorrow  night there is going to be an Extreme Supermoon.  If the weather is clear I plan to see it. My telescope came from Rainbow Resource

It is named Tycho Brahe!

Microscope Madness

On Wednesday I bought a microscope at Hobby Lobby. It was originally $89 , but I had a 40%  off coupon , and Momma  and I went half on the rest. My microscope is a Celestron . It  has  adjustable sighting and 3 different  objective lens. It’s even got a camera to take pictures of what you see inside! I plan to post some pictures when I figure it all out.
