Vacation Week

Hey!! Sorry we haven’t posted in a while as we have been having vacation week. Here is an outline of what we did and all the places we’ve been.

DAY 1 LITTLE ROCK

Our first stop of the week was at the Arkansas Heritage Museum in North Little Rock which is right by the Arkansas  River. This museum covers almost 3 Acres and has a small 18OOs village set up with some of the oldest buildings in Little Rock. Some of the buildings include a school house, a tavern , carriage house, parsonage, and several wood and brick houses . At the museum, there is a large room with big display cases filled with different types of Bowie knives which were first made in Arkansas . The  knives were all handmade and beautifully  forged. Some of them were up to 24 inches long!!! The handles of the knives were made of various materials including bone, horn, and wood. There was also a display of crafts created by Arkansas artists. The best part however was the gift shop. In it were all kinds of handmade items such as baskets, knives, arrow heads, boxes, and thumb pianos. Also there were many Civil War related items including miniature figures and canons. One of the many items that was particularly interesting was an envelope of reprinted Confederate money. Since I also collect coins and money from around the world I  purchased it.

Our next stop was at the Old State House Museum which was the former capital of Arkansas. It is a massive two story house painted white with tall columns. The interior was magnificent with wood flooring and long sweeping staircases. As we went up the first flight of stairs along the walls were pictures of former Arkansas Governors. On the top floor there was an exhibit of famous actors and singers from Arkansas , among them were Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell.

There was also an exhibit for former President Bill Clinton who was born in Arkansas. Another exhibit that my sister and Mom liked was one with all the first ladies of Arkansas dresses.

At the giant staircase of the Old State House Museum.
After looking at all the exhibits we went to the front of the building to look at the gift shop . While there I purchased several post cards of Civil War Battle flags from Arkansas and also rolled a Penney as a souvenir.

It was raining when we left the museum and so we drove slowly down the road by the river. Then suddenly a big storm came up and we watched the lightning flash all around.

From Little Rock we drove to Malvern where we stopped to look at a car . While we were there we swung by the Goodwill Book Store to look around. This book store is our favorite place to shop, because all the prices are low and there is always something that the War Library could use.

DAY  2  HOT SPRINGS AND THE SURROUNDING AREA

After a rainy morning we went and had lunch at the local Dairy Queen where I got a ½ lb. flame thrower and it was great! From there we drove to T-Rex laser tag and Go-kart. The laser tag was very fun because we got to wear the cool vest . The room we played in was dark except for some green and blue lights.
fighting a laser tag war!!

At the bumper boat pond

After that we went to FUN TRACKERS go kart and bumper boat place. Chief and I did the big go kart track here. The track was curvy and the cars went very fast.

At the GO-KART track

After the go-karts we went bumper boating in the little pond. The boats don’t go fast but they are still the most fun.

Day 3:
We had a big cook out with grilled steak, hamburgers, and hot dogs. The weather was hot but we still had a good time and then went swimming in our pool to cool off. After we got out we all had popsicles .We also watched some movies we got at the Family Christian Book Store.
